Members of the Drone Technology Research Group recently visited Bristol, UK, for the 15th Annual International Micro Aerial Vehicles Conference and Competition, hosted by the University of Bristol and University of West England. Our four papers can now be found on our publications page:
- Dexterity Assessment of Fully-Actuated UAVs
- A Study of Gain Tuning for Prolonged Physical Contact of Fully-Actuated UAVs
- Effect of Aerodynamic Summation on Multirotor UAV Hover Performance
- Effects of Simultaneous Turbulence and Ice Accretion on Small Fixed-Wing UAV Performance
The indoors competition this year focused on conservation, navigating through obstacles to identify animals and collect samples. High weighting was placed on autonomous flight. Following an incident with the primary semi-autonomous aircraft, our backup quadcopter brought Team Fantail up to 7th place (out of 16 teams), flying 28 circuits manually.
